Rural Americans Spend A Lot of Time Online

Back to Insights

This data point from our tenth annual Rural Subscriber Study suggests that the internet may have finally transitioned from being primarily an entertainment medium to becoming a utility.

Rural Americans spend, on average, over six hours a day online. Remarkably, more than one-third of them use the internet for over 10 hours daily.

What are they doing online?

Respondents report spending a significant amount of their time on social media platforms. More productive activities include online banking and email communication.
